UAE business setup & corporate services

FAQ

Answers to the questions founders ask us most often. Rules differ by activity, jurisdiction and authority and change over time, so treat this as general guidance — we confirm the exact requirements for your case before you apply.

Getting started

Should I choose a free zone or the mainland?

It depends on where your customers are. A free zone company suits consultants, e-commerce, holding and international trading businesses. A mainland company can trade anywhere in the UAE, including with government entities. See our free zone vs mainland comparison.

How long does company setup take?

Some free zone licences are issued within days of a complete application. Mainland setups and activities that need external approvals take longer. We give you a realistic timeline with your quote.

Do I need to be in the UAE to set up?

Many free zones allow remote setup. You will need to be in the UAE for visa medicals, Emirates ID biometrics and, usually, some bank meetings.

What documents do I need?

Typically a passport copy, a photo, and proof of address for each shareholder. Some activities, corporate shareholders or banks ask for more, such as a business plan, CV or source-of-funds documents. We send you a checklist for your case.

Ownership & licences

Can I own 100% of my company?

Free zone companies allow full foreign ownership. On the mainland, many activities now allow full foreign ownership, while some still require a UAE partner. We check your activity before you apply.

Can I have more than one activity on my licence?

Usually yes, within the same activity group, though limits and extra fees vary by authority.

Do I need a physical office?

Free zones often offer flexi-desk or virtual office options. Mainland companies generally need a registered physical address (Ejari). The number of visas you can hold is often linked to your office space.

Visas, banking & tax

How many visas can I get?

This depends on your package and office space. We explain the visa allocation before you choose.

Can you guarantee my visa or bank account?

No. Visas are approved by immigration authorities and accounts are opened at each bank’s discretion. We prepare complete applications and support you through the process.

Do I need to register for VAT and corporate tax?

Corporate tax registration applies to most UAE businesses, including free zone companies. VAT registration is mandatory once taxable supplies pass the threshold set by the Federal Tax Authority. We review your situation and handle registration and filings.

Costs & renewals

How much does it cost?

Costs depend on jurisdiction, activity, office type and number of visas. Use the cost estimator for a rough idea or see our packages; we then send an itemised quote showing every government and service fee.

What costs should I expect after the first year?

Licence renewal, visa renewals, office or flexi-desk renewal, and ongoing accounting and tax filings. We track renewal dates so you avoid late fines.
